I am dying.

I saw the Super Happy Funtime Show in Indy last night, it was the best burlesque act I've seen. The whole troop is great (gush, gush). I really liked the finale and your You can't Fuck with Jesus song. And the improv'd ending to your mermaid act was hilarious. Anyway, did you have any influence on the choice of costumes for the opener, because it had LPFOS written all over it?

Oh damn, thank you! Pretty much nobody was laughing or clapping at the Jesus song and that usually means someone is gonna try to fuck with me after the show and so I got a little nervous and I was worried everybody hated me. I never feel too bad about it, because I know it’s a controversial song, but it’s good to know people did like it! Maybe I just couldn’t hear well.

The end of the mermaid act was basically me and Lala not ready to be done having pretend sex yet but we did not know the band was gonna play Slow Ride and I’ve never laughed so hard into a vagina before.

I didn’t have much influence over the costumes in the opener, it’s just that everyone in the show is a big giant nerd who loves sci-fi and anime and so they had a lot of the same influences as me. But we got to do our own customization. We were given a leotard and silver booty shorts and the rest was up to us so my own costume was influenced by LPFOS but not really anyone else’s. Fun fact: a friend of ours brought over a barrel of trash and we dug through it to find things we could make costumes out of. But I mostly sewed my embellishments.

Man, this was just the best timed ask. Thank you. I’m so glad you guys are able to make it to some of these shows and that you like them!

Super Happy Funtime Burlesque, Grand Rapids, April 13th

Stafford Smith took a lot of great photos and wrote an excellent article from our gig in Grand Rapids this past weekend. I’ve been waiting for someone to take of a picture of my stocking pull in the mermaid act. I’ve never actually seen how it looks! So I’m gonna be shamelessly self-aggrandizing (a shameless burlesquer? No way!) and post a bunch of the mermaid act but also some of the good highlights from the night, including lady-Jesus at the bottom.

Which prompted a very drunk woman to approach us after the show and say (and this is an exact quote):

“I loved the show, until the last ten minutes. Then I hated it. You guys are bitches. You’re gonna burn in hell. I wanna punch you in the face.”

It was surreal watching a mostly naked Jewish lady-Jesus then give her a lecture on how being a good Christian doesn’t involve punching people in the face. I love this show. I feel like I’m doing my job right if I’ve got people telling me I’m gonna burn in hell.

I can’t wait to do this in the rest of the Midwest. Check out our tour schedule here. We added a show in Iowa. We’ve added more acts as Miss Audacious finally got off crutches. It’s a wild ride.
