As promised, some pinup-style photos of the cute outfit I made yesterday (along with some stockings from What Katie Did and shoes from… I forget where. Sorry!) I know old-timey filters to make things look blown out has been a bit overdone by hipsters and Instagram, but I really like that these photos look almost exactly like the photos I found in the basement from when my mom posed for photographs.

I learned photography the traditional way, non-digitally. I had 3 SLR cameras that, if combined, would make one fully functional camera. Being that they were not combined, every camera I owned had something broken or wrong with it, but I liked what it did to my photos. I like “roughed up” photos because they bring me back to my broken film camera days.

It’s a bit ironic that I use the infinite controls the digital medium gives me to try to simulate the lack of control that broken analog cameras gave me. Of course, my comics do the exact same thing. There’s something about that old aesthetic that just gets to me.
